Mark Matousek is an award-winning author, teacher, and speaker, known for his work on personal transformation, creativity, and spiritual development. With a focus on self-inquiry and the power of story, he guides students and readers to uncover clarity, courage, and authentic expression in their lives.

His passion for teaching and writing has grown over decades of experience as a memoirist, journalist, and spiritual seeker. Mark has written several acclaimed books, including Sex Death Enlightenment and Writing to Awaken, and his essays have appeared in publications such as The New Yorker, O, The Oprah Magazine, and Harper’s Bazaar.

Based in the United States, he leads workshops, online courses, and retreats internationally, helping individuals use writing as a tool for healing and awakening. He also collaborates with organizations and communities worldwide to integrate Emersonian and Stoic wisdom into modern life.

Previously, Mark served as a senior editor at Interview magazine and has worked with leaders in the fields of psychology, spirituality, and the arts. He holds a BA in literature from the University of California, Berkeley, and has been teaching transformational writing and philosophy-based courses for more than 20 years.
